Known as one of the most regarded coffee growing regions in Ethiopia, ergo in the world, this coffee shows some of the distinct characteristics that give the region such fame. This selection was comes from Idido, Yirgachefe via one of our most important suppliers, who we are proud to also call one of our oldest and dearest coffee friends, Heleanna Georgalis.
Idido sits high in Ethiopia’s Gedeo Zone — a cluster of small communities surrounding the town of Yirgacheffe. The area is known for its remarkable altitude, fertile red-brown soils, and generations of smallholder farmers who cultivate coffee on tiny family plots.
Here, coffee is grown under natural shade, handpicked at peak ripeness, and traditionally processed at the Idido washing station, one of the most recognized in the region. The combination of careful cultivation, elevation, and time-honored methods has made Yirgacheffe one of the most celebrated coffee origins in the world — a place where every harvest carries the story of its people and landscape.
This is a bright yet balanced coffee—with moderate caffeine for a gentle lift and higher chlorogenic acids that bring a lively, nuanced edge to the cup. It’s expressive but smooth, ideal for those who enjoy a bit of sparkle without sharpness.
