The E&B LAB is a division of IMS
The main feature of a super fine basket is to slow the extraction and reduce the fines, like inserting a paper filter basket into a filter basket, but without the hassle. Very handy, especially if the grinder is old.
This E&B LAB filter basket range is available in 3 heights, from 14 - 22 grams. The main feature is the extra mesh filter attached to the base - designed to filter out any fines from very finely ground coffee and to slow down the extraction time. This results in less or no channelling.
The SF at the end of the code means a Super-Fine filter.
The filter has no ridge and comes with a flat bottom and a cylindrical profile with a perforated area of 40 mm and 565 holes.
To achieve this ultra-fine filtration, IMS has added a 170-μm membrane to the basket, which makes the 565 holes even finer. Most EMS baskets would be between 250 and 350-μm, so this basket will filter out any fines and add to greater cream distribution.
E&B LAB has 565 holes - and conical and circular holes with an electro-polished finish ensure the best possible and consistent coffee extraction and the least amount of sediment.
💡Soak the baskets every 2-3 weeks in Puly Urnex or Cafetto to remove coffee debris buildup.
